The last 12 months has seen dramatic changes at G&B. After 23 years on the Beaver Industrial Estate, Liphook the company moved to a 760 sq. metre factory in Bordon previously occupied by R.L. Pidduck ATE and Test Aids Ltd.
The facility at Bordon became available after RLP went into liquidation. At this time G&B were planning to expand their sub-contract services and the decision was made not only to acquire the premises of RLP, but also to buy the assets from the Receiver and to re-employ the majority of the RLP staff. The additional facilities provided G&B with high volume manufacturing in BGA, SMT and conventional PCB assembly, as well as ATE Testing, AOI Inspection and high volume final assembly.
The first phase of expansion was complete in September 2003 when the plant, equipment and staff from Liphook moved into the Bordon factory. The transition and integration went according to plan and by December all systems were up and running and everyone had settled in.
Phase 2 of the plan will be carried out during April. This involves building a second floor over the production area, creating additional offices for various customer support departments, as well as an extra 246 sq. metres for production and stores.
To accommodate the construction work, the conventional PCB and final assembly workshops will CLOSE for 1 week from Friday 16th to Monday 26th April, whilst the SMT workshop will be running at reduced capacity. To minimise any loss in production, extra hours will be worked over the next few weeks in order to get ahead. Every effort is being made to meet delivery commitments. If you are at all concerned or have any queries please contact your representative who will be happy to discuss the situation with you.
This work is being carried out now so that G&B can ensure continued quality and extra capacity to grow with the increasing demands of our customers and industry developments. G&B are confident the long-term benefits will easily outweigh any short-term disruption.
G&B would like to thank all of their customers for their support during the expansion program.
