As soon as computer systems became small enough to load into a van G&B offered to take their workstation to the customer's premises and work along side their engineers. The result was an instant improvement in productivity and a solution that was right first time, on time.

Background of PCB Design Service

G&B has been offering a PCB Design Service since 1980. Initially with red and blue tape on film before moving to CAD in 1981.

Two seats of Racal Cadet were acquired in 1982 which established G&B as a leading Design Bureau. In 1985 a Cadnetix seat was purchased providing G&B with SMT and multilayer design capability. G&B also upgraded the Racal Cadets to the PC based replacement initially marketed as Redboard later to become Cadstar.

G&B stayed with its investments in Cadnetix during the 1990's whilst it evolved through Dazix, Intergraph, Veribest and finally as it is today Mentor Graphics Expedition PCB. During the process G&B built up to 5 licences becoming probably the largest Design Bureau of its kind in the UK.

At the same time G&B realised the immense capability of the Cadstar solution as a bureau tools and similarly built up its capability to 5 licences.

Customers often bring or send in old designs for upgrading or modification.
